Charming Colonial Fort City
Galle Fort is a beautifully preserved piece of history. Walking along the ramparts at sunset is absolutely romantic. The fort is filled with boutique hotels, art galleries, and charming cafes. We loved exploring the narrow streets, visiting the lighthouse, and watching locals play cricket on the green. The Dutch Reformed Church and the National Maritime Museum are worth visiting. Great shopping for handmade lace and antiques. The blend of European architecture with tropical surroundings is unique. Highly recommend staying overnight to experience the fort's evening atmosphere.

Incredible Blue Whale Encounter!
This was the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip! We saw multiple blue whales, the largest animals on Earth, right off the coast of Mirissa. Our boat also encountered a pod of playful dolphins. The crew was professional and respectful of the animals, maintaining proper distance. The early morning departure (6 AM) was worth it. Saw spinner dolphins doing acrobatics and even a whale breach! The Indian Ocean was relatively calm. Bring seasickness tablets if you're prone to motion sickness. Our guide was knowledgeable about marine life. An unforgettable experience - highly recommend!

Fascinating Tea Plantation Tour
The tea plantation tour in Nuwara Eliya was absolutely fascinating! We learned the entire process from leaf to cup. Watching the tea pickers work with such skill and speed was impressive - they can pick up to 20kg per day! The factory tour showed us the withering, rolling, oxidation, and drying processes. The tasting session at the end was delightful - Ceylon tea is truly world-class. The plantation views are stunning with endless green hills. Our guide explained the history of tea in Sri Lanka and the British colonial influence. Bought some fresh tea directly from the factory. A must-do experience!

Amazing Leopard Sighting at Yala!
Yala National Park exceeded all expectations! We were lucky enough to spot a Sri Lankan leopard lounging on a rock - Yala has one of the highest leopard densities in the world. Also saw elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and countless bird species including peacocks and painted storks. Our jeep driver/guide was excellent at tracking animals and sharing knowledge about the ecosystem. The park landscape is diverse - from dense jungle to open grasslands and lagoons. Early morning safari (5:30 AM start) gave us the best wildlife viewing. Bring binoculars and a good camera. Absolutely thrilling experience!

Luxurious Stay with Ocean Views
Absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful hotel! The ocean-facing rooms offer spectacular sunset views over the Indian Ocean. The colonial architecture blends perfectly with modern amenities. Staff were incredibly attentive and friendly - they arranged our airport transfer and helped plan our daily excursions. The breakfast buffet had an excellent selection of both Sri Lankan and international cuisine. The hoppers and string hoppers were delicious! Pool area is well-maintained. Location is perfect for exploring Colombo's attractions. The spa offers authentic Ayurvedic treatments. Worth every rupee!

Cozy Mountain Retreat
This charming guesthouse in Ella was the perfect base for our hill country adventures. The family-run establishment has so much character and warmth. Our room had a balcony with stunning views of Ella Rock and the surrounding tea estates. The home-cooked Sri Lankan meals were absolutely delicious - the rice and curry spread was incredible with so many different curries and sambols. The hosts gave us great hiking tips and arranged a tuk-tuk for our day trips. Very clean, comfortable beds, hot water, and strong WiFi. Great value for money. Felt like staying with friends!
