This 10-day tour perfectly balanced adventure and relaxation. We started in the cool, misty hills of Nuwara Eliya, often called 'Little England' for its colonial architecture and tea plantations.
Visiting a working tea estate was fascinating. We learned about the tea-making process from plucking to packaging, and of course, enjoyed plenty of fresh Ceylon tea. The rolling green hills dotted with tea pickers in colorful saris made for stunning photographs.
The train journey from Ella to Kandy is considered one of the most scenic in the world, and it lived up to the hype! We hung out of the train doors (safely!) watching waterfalls, tea plantations, and mountain vistas pass by.
After the highlands, we headed to the southern coast. The beaches of Mirissa and Unawatuna were paradise - golden sand, turquoise water, and perfect for both swimming and surfing. We went whale watching in Mirissa and were lucky enough to see blue whales!
The trip ended with a few days of pure relaxation in a beachfront villa, enjoying fresh seafood and spectacular sunsets. Sri Lanka truly offers the best of both worlds!
